From phenomenon to mechanism, from mechanism to intervention — understanding the epigenetic basis of aging and cancer.

Phenomenon

Tissue Aging & Tumorigenesis

Aging is the greatest risk factor for cancer. We study how cell identity progressively erodes during tissue aging, and how this erosion remodels the microenvironment, accumulates oncogenic susceptibility, and ultimately promotes tumorigenesis.

Mechanism

Epigenetics

Epigenetic dysregulation is the central link between aging and cancer. We focus on the molecular mechanisms by which key epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation become aberrant during aging and tumorigenesis, uncovering the regulatory logic of cell identity erosion.

Intervention

Epigenome Editing

The ultimate goal of understanding mechanisms is to enable intervention. We leverage de novo protein design to develop next-generation epigenome editing tools for precise manipulation of locus-specific epigenetic states, opening new strategies for aging intervention and cancer therapy.
